Margaret Lindsley Warden Collection
Scope and Content

Margaret Lindsley Warden donated her collection to the Gore Center in 1998.  It includes research files, monographs, serial publications (magazines, journals, and stud books), photographs, posters, and engravings.  The research files, totaling thirty cubic feet, include Miss Warden's research and interview notes, letters, newspaper and magazine clippings, and pamphlets and brochures published by many organizations.   Serial publications include 45 titles, some spanning 75 or more years.  Monographs total approximately 900.  Photographs total approximately 2900.  Most of the material relates to equine topics.  However, the collection also includes information about historic homes, farms, and families of the greater middle Tennessee region.

Three in-house finding aids provide access to information in the Warden Collection.   One database lists all monographs and serial publications and can be sorted by author or title.  Photographs have been scanned into a database that researchers may search by names and topics.  Finally, a list of research files by subject, with cross-references, is available.

Perky Beisel completed archiving the collection in September 2001.  For more information see MTSU Record article, September 17, 2001.
