Mr. Andrew Lee Todd's efforts led to the choice of
Murfreesboro as the site of the Middle Tennessee Normal School.
The original campus building, shown above, opened in 1911.

The new library constructed in 1958 was dedicated to A. L. Todd.

The Todd Library was constructed between Jones Hall and the Science Building.

When the Todd Library opened in 1958 it housed 64,000
books.
It served as the campus library and as a regional library for seven counties.

The Todd Library was the third home of the campus library.
The library was first housed in the building now known as Kirksey Old Main.
The library was then housed in a separate building later known as Murfree Hall
and was located where Peck Hall stands today.

The library's collections continuously grew.
An expansion to the Todd Library was completed in 1970.
In 1974, a copy of the Gutenberg Bible became the 500,000th book in the library.

In 1999, the library moved to its fourth home and the Todd building underwent construction again.
