SCOPE AND CONTENT

Anne Sloan, daughter of Eugene Holloway Sloan, donated his collection to the Albert Gore Research Center at Middle Tennessee State University in 1998.  Documents covering primarily the period from 1946 to 1987 and relating to the history of Middle Tennessee State University and Sloan’s tenure as Professor of Business Law and Public Relations Director comprise the majority of the 3.75 linear foot collection.  From 1946-1974, Eugene Holloway Sloan served as professor of business law and as director of Public Relations at Middle Tennessee State University.  The Eugene Holloway Sloan Collection includes personal daily journals from 1960-1987, items related to or about many MTSU figures, “Ivory Tower” articles written by various professors and members of the MTSU community, and photographs and memorabilia from Aerospace Education Workshops.  In addition, the collection has a book entitled With Second Army: Somewhere in Tennessee, which describes World War II maneuvers in Tennessee.  There are also photographs of the World War II maneuvers that were taken by Sloan.
