BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

 

 Louisa Daniel Rutledge was born in about 1828 to Caloway Daniel and Lucinda Cook Daniel in Lincoln County, Tennessee.  Louisa married Sam Rutledge in 1841 at age fourteen.   They lived in Mulberry, Tennessee, until his death in 1884.  She was connected to the community  by her membership in the Primitive Baptist Church and through her extensive family.  Her brother, Jack Daniel, registered the whiskey distillery of that name in Lynchburg, Tennessee, in 1866.  Louisa Daniel Rutledge died in 1925 at the age of 97.  Her obituary states that she had 47 great and great-great grandchildren living in south central Tennessee at the time of her death.
