ADMINISTRATIVE HISTORY

The Middle Tennessee Women’s Studies Association was formed in 1986 as a study and support group for regional faculty, graduate students, and others interested in women’s studies, no matter the discipline their studies focused on. The organization met 6 times throughout the academic year, rotating meeting sites among the member institutions including; Middle Tennessee State University, Belmont University, Vanderbilt University, Tennessee State University, Austin Peay State University, Fisk University, and Tennessee Tech. MTWSA provided a monthly forum for exchange and discussion on topics relevant to members’ general, research, and teaching interests. Mainly the organization created a local network for the exchange of information about contemporary women’s ideas. The organization no longer exists, but the date that it ceased operations is unknown
