SERIES DESCRIPTION

Series 1 – Correspondence
Dating from 23 April 1951 to 5 October 1960, writers range from Jean Faircloth MacArthur to the District Director of Boy Scouts.

Series 2 – Newspaper Clippings
Although most are undated, this series contains both personal and public service items apparently from the 1950s.

Series 3 – Civic Service
Consisting of printed bulletins, newsletters, and correspondence, this series includes a 1960 speech given by Mr. Jones regarding planned urban growth.  Mayoral speeches, Rotary Bulletin, and Kiwanis Club speaker appreciation certificate complete this series.

Series 4 – Photographs
Most of the photographs relate to General Douglas MacArthur’s 1951 visit to Murfreesboro and were taken by a professional photographer from Life Magazine.

Series 6 – Ephemera
Three foreign coins collected from the Jones’ travels and a scrapbook of primarily newspaper clippings of Mr. Jones’ mayoral term are the extent of this series.
