SCOPE AND CONTENT

Jennings and Rebecca Jones have been community activists and staunch supporters of MTSU for many years.  Jennings Jones, a successful businessman, is well-known for his visionary leadership in civic affairs.  MTSU's School of Business now bears his name.  The Jennings and Rebecca Jones Collection contains an oral history detailing the events of the Jones's lives, including memories of World War II, recollections of Murfreesboro's earliest urban planning commission, and reflections on the many civic projects to which the couple have devoted their time and resources.  The collection also includes scrapbooks and photographs from the General Douglas MacArthur's visit to Murfreesboro in 1951, when Jennings Jones was serving as mayor.
