The Walter King Hoover Collection contains over 3400 photographs. The
photos span areas such as local businesses, grist mills, local high schools,
and women's clubs. Smyrna's development from a rural community to a
small town and eventually a bustling suburb can be seen through the photograph
collection. The photos also document many of the people who settled in
Smyrna over the past 150 years. Like the rest of the Hoover collection,
the photographs not only cover Smyrna but many areas of Middle Tennessee.
This part of the Walter King Hoover Collection can be searched through a
photographic database at the Albert Gore Research Center.
