"She [Martha Hampton] was Dean of Women.  And my husband would pick me up from gym class.  That was my last class......  And I would come out of the gym in my shorts and get in the car.  And I didn't know that was a no-no.  Louise Wilson....... said, "Livie, you can't do that."  I said, "Why not? I'm getting in the car; I'm going home.  I wear them downtown," you know.  She said, "If Ms. Hampton catch you, it'll be terrible."  I said, "Really?"  And, of course, I appreciated her telling me that, and I didn't wear them anymore.  Well, I'd put on a skirt when I came out of the gym.
