Gwendolyn Walker, wife of MTSU President James Walker
1991-2000, reminisces about her time as first lady, her work with Project
Help, and her transplant surgery.
"I was really fortunate. On March the 31st, 1997, which was an Easter Sunday, a rebirth happened to me. I received my lung, one lung. Fortunately, I had someone who had probably lived a very good life but was very thoughtful, and loved people, and made a decision that he wanted to give the gift of life. And I was fortunate enough to receive his lung."
