Knox Ridley

Knox Ridley, former mayor of Smyrna, recalls an experience from WWII.

"We were bombed with the V-1s and V-2s. The V-2 was the one that flew about oh, twenty-five hundred feet or less. Come over and when the engine would cut out, it would go down and explode. No particular target. And the V-1s were the one that went up the high ionosphere and came down and you didn't hear the blast for probably a minute or two after it hit."
