Myrtle Lord

Myrtle Lord shares memories from her childhood.

I had a father and mother who believed in the children working.  I was from a large family.  There were really six boys and two girls, and we all had to work.  We had to get up early.  My daddy would always say, "When the sun comes up, it's time for you to be up."  So sun up really meant for us to get up.  Said, "If you don't have anything to do--I'm sure you must have something to do, but just in case you don't have something to do--stand up beside the bed, but get out of the bed."  And so I grew up that way.
