Billie Little, Executive Director of Children's Discovery House, recalls the history behind the Discovery House project:

"Discovery House is a hands-on children's museum.  It is very small in scale and has been for fifteen years in this 5,000 sq. ft., 100-year old building.  We are moving in about a year's time.  We are getting ready to build a new building, which will raise our square footage to 20,000 sq. ft.  At that time, this will become the Discovery Center, and we will become a much larger hands-on museum.  Hands-on museum is simply put a museum that focuses on its visitors-- children--and educating them as its primary mission and goal.  Artifacts, collections are secondary or minor prospect of the museum."
