Harley Foutch, chair of the Department of AgriBusiness / AgriScience, remembers the changes at MTSU during his tenure.

"The first class I had here in the fall of 1970 was a freshman class in Elements of Plant Science.  I had an enrollment of 72 students, seventy male and two female, and that was about typical--certainly a male-dominated type program.  Today we have about 56% female and about 44% males.  So we have more females now in our program than males.  And that has been a change that's been welcomed.  I'm glad to see it.  There's a lot of employment opportunities there for ladies, for sure."
