Marshall Duggin recalls hearing the news of President Roosevelt's death.

".......this week April 12th, President Roosevelt died.  And I was already in Guam in my artillery training group at the time that he died.  And one morning about the middle of the morning, we were cleaning our weapons.  That was a process that we went through to keep them in good shape.  And the executive officer of the field artillery battalion came down to that gun park and told us about President Roosevelt dying.  And you could imagine what happened.  It was devastating.  And actually you could hear a pin drop.  You know we were, a lot of of them were jokesters and everything going on, but whenever he told us about President Roosevelt dying,"
