Barry Chism served in Italy during WWII and shares memories of the conditions that soldiers endured.

 "I could never convey to you the fatigue. Go for days on end, maybe move up sometimes ten, fifteen miles through the mountains which is as rough as any you ever saw in east Tennessee. Then going to attack a stronghold of German soldiers that was dug in there.  They were waiting for you.  You can't imagine how tired you were, how hungry you were, how cold you were, or how wet you were."
