Zane Cantrell remembers an experience with absenteeism  while principal at Crichlow School.

"...get off the bus, they would slip uptown, and go to the pool hall.  And .......so I took one of my men teachers with me and we went up to the pool hall.   There was a little ally behind.  I sent him to the front door and I stood out at the back door.  And the kids saw him coming in and they all piled out the back door and I caught every one of them.  So that ended their little party of going to the pool hall."
