Tommy Brown, MTSU graduate, recalls the early years of
integrated sports programs at MTSU during the mid-sixties.
"Gosh, we were spirited. We were exciting. We was fancy like Pistol Pete Maravich. I could do all of that stuff he could do. I was fancy--pass the ball any kind of way. I mean our guys could play. There was a lot of steam in that gym, you know. It was the kind of thing that seemed like if you were down, the crowd would just start cheering, and it would give you that extra boost of energy. Just something would happen where you'd score points or whatever you deemed necessary for you to win. And we didn't lose a lot at home."
