Carl Black worked on the Ledo-Burma road to provide supplies from Burma to China during WWII.

"Then the Ledo road was to push the second in command in getting the supplies to China.  He couldn't get it over the hump in planes because he didn't have enough fighter planes to escort the transports over the mountain.  They were shooting them down just like shooting ducks out of a gallery.  He couldn't do that because he was losing too much equipment.  So we were sent to Burma with that particular phase of transportation, to build that Ledo Road across into China and to take the supplies over the mountain."
