James Akins |
Jim Akins was taken prisoner during WWII and tells some his experiences.: "And in the middle of the winter, I think it was around the 1st of January, we got a notice we had to move. First camp wasn't too bad, except starving, you know. You know, not enough to eat. So we left and the Germans moved us because the Russians were getting close. And it was snow and below zero weather and we marched all that day and all that night and the next day and the next night. It's a wonder you know, that wasn't very -- I would actually hallucinate, seeing some place to stop, you know, and it wasn't there when you got there, you know. But it was just a trail of POWs." |
