Sam Watkins shares memories of "hog killing time" on the farm.

At the hog killing, when I was seven, I would put a mule and a ground slide -- drive the mule from the place they killed the hog up to the scalding box where the men was scalding them.  There would be a lot of them in the lot because it was a neighborhood hog killing.  Maybe we'd have four different families.  We were supposed to be killing enough to last the whole year, but it didn't last.  When you got a whole lot eating off of it, you'd eat it up fore the next killing time.
