Bob McKnight, pictured during WWII, recalls the early efforts to bring industry to Murfreesboro. |
I worked for the Daily News Journal and my boss was Jack McFarland, he's deceased. Jack and some other people decided that Murfreesboro needed some industry. Jack McFarland, ex-mayor Jack Todd, Mr. Rollie Holden who ran the hardware store, John Rucker who was a state senator, Mr. Al Mifflin, Tommy Martin was one of them and I'm going to leave some people out. But these fellows got together and they used their own money and said, "We've got to get some industry here." They didn't get any money for it. They did an outstanding job, spending their own money, getting industry in Rutherford County. |
