Gilley-Puryear Collection
Scope and Content
The Gilley and Puryear families of
Rutherford
County
were related in some way as there is correspondence between the two families.
This collection is made up of letters written between 1867 and 1926 (not every
letter is written between a Gilley and a Puryear), receipts, and newspaper
clippings that were saved by members of the Puryear or Gilley families. Very
little is known about these families other than James M. Gilley worked for the
Housing and Loan Administration in
Nashville
. There are photos in the collection as well.
