The Albert Gore, Sr. Research Center has
several collections relating to the memorialization of the Civil War.
The Battle of Nashville Monument Collection
This collection provides correspondence, press clippings,
rededication programs and plans for the restoration and relocation of the
Battle of Nashville Monument. This monument serves as a commemoration for
the Battle of Nashville during the Civil War. The driving force behind the
monument's creation was May Winston Caldwell, her husband James, and the
Ladies Battlefield Association.
The Gulliford Collection (Andrew)
This collection documents the history of the Sam Davis home
and Dr. Andrew Gulliford's work as a trustee. The materials in the
collection document the museum renovations, site improvement
recommendations, and interpretational focus changes during Gulliford's
tenure.
The Pittard Collection (Homer and Mabel)
Civil War—Clubs/Commemorations Series:
This series in the Pittard
Collection focuses on the activities and clubs formed for the Civil War
Centennial. In addition to items gathered to plan and celebrate the Civil
War Centennial, this series also contains the correspondence and
publications of the Forrest Round Table, the local commemoration society
formed in honor of the Confederate General, Nathan Bedford Forrest. Also,
the series includes materials related to the Ohio Volunteer Infantry
Memorial Association and the Sam Davis Memorial Association.
The Womack Collection (Bob)
Civil War Re-enactments Series: The Womack Collection has
materials related to the battles at Stones River, Fort Donelson,
Chickamauga, Lebanon, Franklin and Shiloh.
