| In 1915, the state of Tennessee incorporated Smyrna once again. Dr. J.W. Engles, son of 1869 mayor Joseph Engles, served as the new mayor. | ||

| The railroad continued to be the center of Smyrna, but new developments like telephones and electricity came to the town. | ||

| In the early years of the second incorporation, Smyrna residents enjoyed the annual street fair (beginning in 1914), variety shows like the Toby show, and traveling medicine shows. | ||

Though hit hard by the Great Depression, Smyrna's history is marked by several key changes - the construction of the Dixie Highway, the creation of Smyrna Air Base in 1942, and opening of the Nissan plant. All of these changes have helped make Smyrna what it is today. |
