1911    Middle Tennessee State Normal School opens with Robert Lee Jones as president

1912    Baseball and football begin; school colors of blue and white chosen

1913    E. Mai Saunders puts together first school orchestra

1914    First alumni association organized

1921    First men's residence opened and named Jones Hall

1922    Prichett Alfred Lyon becomes second president and serves until 1938
