Dr. Seuss Wants You!

The Wartime Political Cartoons of Theodore Geisel

The Albert Gore Research Center is proud to present this traveling exhibit from The Center for Holocaust & Humanity Education at the Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, Ohio.  The exhibit, on display in the ground-floor lobby of Todd Hall, features political cartoons created by Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss) between 1941 and 1943 in response to anti-war sentiment in the United States.

"Dr. Seuss Wants You!" is presented in conjunction with the 7th Bi-Annual MTSU Holocaust Studies Conference, October 27-29.  This year's conference is titled "From Liberation to Life:  Sixty Years After Auschwitz." At 4:00 pm on October 27, Dr. Racelle R. Weiman, Director of The Center for Holocaust & Humanity Education, will discuss Dr. Seuss's political art.  The talk will take place in the exhibit area just outside the Gore Center.

"Dr. Seuss Wants You!" may be viewed any time Todd Hall is open -- usually 7:00 am to 9:00 pm, Monday through Friday.  An online version of the exhibit  may be viewed at http://www.holocaustandhumanity.org/chhe_seuss_1.html

Special thanks to Lon Nuell and Rick Rishaw of the Art Department for installing the exhibit panels!
