SERIES DESCRIPTIONS
SERIES 1: Correspondence, 1946-1982 (6 Folders)
This series is arranged chronologically by date. The
majority of the files in this series contain condolence letters sent to the
friends of John “Jack” McFarland after his death. In addition, the series has a
letter from the American Red Cross that was send to McFarland during the 1940s.
SERIES 2: Biographical, 1927-1982 (13 Folders)
The biographical series has various certificates and
diplomas that provide insight about McFarland’s life. Some of the notable
items in this series include his high school and college diplomas, certificates
of appreciation for his support of Middle Tennessee State University and Martin
College, and tributes given by various Tennessee politicians at the time of
McFarland’s death. The files in this series are arranged alphabetically.
SERIES 3: Memorabilia, 1940s-1982 (3 Folders, 12 items)
This series contains numerous plaques that belonged to
McFarland that depict his involvement in the Murfreesboro Rotary Club and the
MTSU Foundation. In addition, the series contains invitations sent to McFarland
to attend various functions such as the inauguration of Franklin D. Roosevelt
and a luncheon with President John F. Kennedy.
