SERIES DESCRIPTION

Series 1:  Correspondence, 1933-1990  (2 boxes, 46 folders)
This series includes personal correspondence between the Licker sisters and their friends and relatives; Ethel Licker Haney’s correspondence with Adrian Collection administrator Joe Simms, Jean Faircloth MacArthur, Joan Crawford, and other Hollywood personalities.

Series 2:  Ephemera (2 boxes, 6 folders)
In this series there are the personal items of the sisters and the Licker family, including a marriage certificate, a diploma from Tennessee College for Women, and a christening gown. 

Series 3: Literature (2 boxes, 12 folders)
All items in this series were personally collected by Ethel Licker Haney.  The literature covers her professional interest in fashion and different religious literature from the Church of Christ and Christian Science.  Her friendships with Joan Crawford and Jean MacArthur led to a collection of works on both Joan Crawford and Jean’s husband, Douglas MacArthur.

Series 4:  Newsclippings (1 box, 32 folders)
This series contains information about local history including The Cotton Patch (the Licker sisters’ clothing store), Crichlow school, Murfreesboro Bank and Trust, Soule College (a girls academy), local theater, J. C. Bradford, the MacArthurs’ visit to Murfreesboro, astronaut Rhea Seddon, artist Jesse Beesley, and the Licker and Goldstein families. 

Series 5: Printed Material (1 box, 14 folders)
Most items in this series are booklets, brochures, or programs from various functions or groups.  Included also are receipts from funerals and from Ethel Licker Haney’s time as an employee of Bullocks-Wilshire.
