SCOPE AND CONTENT
The Licker Haney Maxwell Collection is comprised of approximately 1000 items consisting of correspondence, books, news clippings, photographs, various printed material and other ephemera. The collection documents local history pertaining to Soule College, Tennessee College for Women, the public square, the Cason-Thomas and Goldstein families, The Cotton Patch, General Douglas MacArthur’s 1953 visit to Murfreesboro and Murfreesboro natives Jean Faircloth MacArthur and Jesse Beesley. The collection documents Ethel’s career in Los Angeles and her friendships with designer Gilbert Adrian, actress Joan Crawford and several other Hollywood celebrities. Esther’s involvement with local theatre and Bertha’s involvement with the Red Cross are also documented.
